This innocuous book came to my attention in 2005 and it has passed through my hands many times since. I’d no inclination to peruse its contents for I’d ceased to think in miracles. In 2005, I was cursing God for abandoning me. I was using all my energy to stave off the hell I descended into 15 years earlier by marrying a man as un-Godly as anyone could be.
In 2007, while packing some books as donations for a guide fair, my hand once again fell on “A Course in Miracles “.By this time, I’d secured david hoffmeister podcast a divorce from my husband but was still coping with the fallout. As I grasped the book, I became very thoughtful and calm. The thing that was it about this book that invoked feelings I hadn’t experienced in an exceedingly long time? My hand clung to the book refusing to place it down. Realizing that this was an indication that I’d better take a closer look, I made a pot of tea and sat in my personal favorite reading chair. With great curiosity, I dedicated to the blue hardcover and read “A Course in Miracles, a foundation for inner peace.” Wow. Which was a pretty bold statement but okay, I chose to bite. Going for a deep breath, I pondered probably the most obvious question: What IS the building blocks for inner peace? This book instantly opened a classic wound and it’d better have the solution to healing.
“A Course in Miracles” is truly that, a course. Written in three parts, this book is never to be taken lightly and can’t be read in per week or perhaps a month. There’s text, a workbook for students and a guide for teachers. I’d the sudden urge to fling the book across the area because I was deeply and profoundly afraid. I instinctively understood that when I began looking over this book, I was going to have to alter and was I ready for the journey ahead?
My favorite movie is “The Matrix “.The main character Neo is trying to find the solution to the matrix. He understands the matrix exists but he doesn’t know very well what it is. The man with the solution, Morpheus, contacts Neo and offers the chance for truth giving Neo a selection between having a blue pill or a red pill. Take the blue pill and remain ignorant or take the red pill and find the solution to the matrix. Before he reaches for his pill of preference, Morpheus cautions Neo that will he choose the red pill, they can never return to the life span he had been living.
“A Course in Miracles” could be the red pill. Do I read it and change everything I find out about the world and myself or do I take the blue pill and make “A Course in Miracles” book fair fodder?
As I choke down the red pill, I flip to Lesson 1 of 365 in the workbook for students and promptly read, “Nothing I see in this room means anything “.Oh dear. Could it be too late to take the blue pill?Read More
